Nine Stradivari and Amati Violins In The Theater on The Vrijthof

I was looking through some photos today and came across one that I took when we went to an amazing concert in Maastricht in March this year. 


The Amati Ensemble presented a special concert in connection with the 25th anniversary of the TEFAF (The European Fine Arts Fair), on these exceptional instruments.  It was amazing to hear these old instruments played together at this concert and how the sound blended together in the selection of music contemporary to the instruments - a real treat.

There were guards allocated to each of the instruments and if a player put one down then the guard was there to pack it away instantly - which is not surprising considering the value of the instruments being played.
